In order to search for new physics at collider experiments it is necessary for Monte-Carlo (MC) event generators to simulate Standard Model (SM) physics to the highest possible level of precision. The current precision frontier for predictions from the SM is at an unprecedented accuracy level for observables at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC): Perturbative corrections to at least next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) in the strong coupling constant $\alpha_s$ and next-to-leading order (NLO) in the electromagnetic coupling constant $\alpha$ must be included in the calculations. Earlier studies demonstrated that within this temperature range, the material exists in two different phases that grow in elongated domains: A conductive orthorhomic phase and an insulating monoclinic phase. ; Self-assemblies based on hydrophilic polymers in aqueous media
This doctoral thesis is devoted to investigation of self-assemblies based on hy-drophilic polymers (both homopolymers and block copolymers) in aqueous media.Specifically, we focused on two classes of systems: (i) hydrophilic polymers whoseself-assembly in aqueous solutions is driven by association of terminal hydrophobicgroups and (ii) double hydrophilic block polyelectrolytes whose self-assembly oc-curs via electrostatic complexation of polyelectrolyte blocks. For characterization offormed assemblies, we mostly used different scattering techniques (light scattering,small-angle X-ray scattering) in a combination with a number of supplementarymethods including microscopy, fluorometry and calorimetry. Keywords: hydrophilic polymers, block copolymers, association, self-assembly,micelles, scattering

This thesis presents the first global interpretation of the measurements of doubledifferentialcross sections of inclusive jet and top quark-antiquark pair (tt) productionin proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at the center ofmass energy of √s = 13TeV, together with inclusive measurements in Deep Inelasticelectron-proton Scattering (DIS) at HERA. The LHC data have been recordedby the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment in 2016, and correspond to theintegrated luminosity of 33.5 fb−1 for inclusive jet measurement or 35.9 fb−1 for the ttmeasurement. This novel analysis is performed at next-to-leading order (NLO) of perturbative quantumchromodynamics (QCD), where the inclusive neutral and charged current DISmeasurements at HERA, the CMS jet measurements and the normalized triple-differentialcross sections of tt production are used together to constrain the parametersof QCD and impose constraints on new physics. This dissertation investigates three well-motivated scalar extensions of the Standard Model and shows that the combination of constraints from collider experiments, from the evolution of the early Universe, and from future astrophysical experiments, such as GW interferometers, will be very valuable for probing the parameter space of those models. In particular, extensions of the Higgs sector of the Standard Model allow for a rich cosmological history around the electroweak scale. In the two-Higgs-doublet model (2HDM) and its real singlet extension (the N2HDM), we determine the parameter regions featuring a first-order EW phase transition (FOEWPT), but also the regions where other effects occur such as electroweak symmetry non-restoration (SnR) at high temperature. ; Diffusion in ionic glasses studied with coherent X-rays
Most scientific research on the topic of atomic diffusion in glasses is either based on theoretical work or computer simulations. Few experimental data are available due to the methods being either macroscopic, like tracer diffusion measurements, or probe time-scales too fast to study atomic transport in solids. [...]

Magnetite ($\text{Fe}_3\text{O}_4$), one of the first known magnetic materials, has multiple applications as for example as a catalyst or catalyst component. Magnetite nanoparticles are used as contrast agents in medicine or building blocks in novel hierarchical materials with outstanding mechanical properties. [...]

In this thesis, the design and commissioning of the cryogenic in-vacuum undulatorFrosty is presented, which will be used to demonstrate a possible free electron lasingwith a laser plasma accelerated beam at the Lux facility. The design of Lux follows adecompression scheme to reduce the effective energy spread in the FEL, which requires atunable and taperable gap up to 5 %/m. [...]

The project's main goal is to design tailored post-process heat treatments for four LPBF high-end alloys (AlSi10Mg, AlSi7Mg, Ti6Al4V ELI, Inconel 718) that are widely used in the Aerospace, Healthcare, and Energy industry. The precondition for a successful design of the tailored heat treatment is the guarantee that mechanical property standards for the Aerospace, Healthcare, and Energy industry are met at any time. In this thesis, measurements are presented using proton-proton collision data at $\sqrt{s}$ =13 TeV collected by the CMS experiment in the years 2016, 2017, and 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb$^{−1}$. New results on single top quark production in association with a Z boson $(tZq)$ are presented. [...]

AbstractA search for new heavy particles that decay into top quark-antiquark pairs ispresented using an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb$^{−1}$ of proton-proton collision datarecorded at a centre-of-mass energy of √s = 8 TeV with the ATLAS experiment atthe Large Hadron Collider. The analysis considers events with exactly one chargedlepton, missing transverse momentum and jets in the final state. [...]

Currently, the technique to detect neutrinos at the EeV energy scale by the radio signals emitted when they interact in glacial ice, is making the transition from smallprototype experiments to full discovery-scale detectors. In the summer of 2021, construction started for the Radio Neutrino Observatory Greenland (RNO-G), the firstdetector large enough to be sensitive to the expected flux of cosmogenic neutrinos. [...]

A search for heavy resonances with a mass of 1 TeV or more in four-top-quark events is presented. This search uses proton-proton-collision data collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large HadronCollider (LHC) during Run 2 in the years 2015-2018 at a center-of-mass energy of √𝑠 = 13 TeV.
