From March 17 to 19, the openCost project team is organizing the international conference “openCost: Navigating Cost Transparency” at the German Electron Synchrotron DESY in Hamburg, to which we cordially invite you. The aim is to jointly set the course for the second phase of the project, to bring together practical perspectives from the community, and to create space for networking and exchange.

We are happy to announce that the preliminary conference programme is now available online: https://indico.desy.de/event/50077/timetable/#20260319.detailed.
In addition to contributions from the project team, the conference program includes presentations from Open Library of Humanities, TSOSI – Transparency to Sustain Open Science Infrastructure, SeDOA, SCOAP3, and JQuant. We are also particularly pleased to announce the keynote speech by Dr. Angela Holzer (German Research Foundation): „Why does the DFG support the development of information budgets and standardized cost data?“.

The conference language is English. The participation fee for the event is EUR 60. Further information about the conference can be found on our project website: https://www.opencost.de/aktuelles/konferenz-2026/
