please note the current changes in operation due to the measures to contain the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus:

  • The library remains open 24/7
  • You need a DACHS card to enter the library
  • Media can be checked out and returned via the self-check terminal
  • Currently, we can offer 3 workplaces. If you need to stay longer, please test yourself beforehand according to the DESY guidelines section 20), and the internal regulations (GBV) (requires login).
  • Requested media will be send to your office or homeoffice
  • We do our best to maintain the supply also from inter library loan and articles via email
  • Please note our wide range of digital media!
    • Items available for direct download are listed in the DESY library catalogue. You can recognize e-books and online conferences easily via the virtual shelfmark reading Online in the second line. Also on the note use online link in the record. Direct access links are provided as External link below the bibliographic description.
    • Our E-Book lending platform ProQuest E-Book Central offers
      • almost 100,000 e-books in the field of natural sciences,
      • over 30,000 e-books in the field of computer science / IT
      • almost 80,000 e-books in engineering
      • numerous titles in various other areas like mathamatics or law
      Some of these items can only be accessed upon request to DESY library. Please do not hesitate to use the "Inquiry" option.

Publishing Open Access: How to evaluate a journal's quality

In the talk "Publishing Open Access: How to evaluate a journal's quality", Stefan Schmeja and Jessika Rücknagel provide an overview of requirements for open access journals. The speakers address criteria that authors can consider to choose a suitable publication venue.

Among other things, we will address the following questions:

  • How does quality assurance work in the publication process?
  • How can I assess the trustworthiness and professionalism of a journal?
  • How can I find quality-assured journals?

It will take place on July 29 from 2 to 3 pm.

Researchers, students and all other interested parties are invited to this Open Access Talk. The presentation will be given in English and will take half an hour. Afterwards, there will be plenty of room for questions and discussion. Registration is not required. You can participate via the following link:

Research Integrity

Being around for some time in German language only, the DFG Online Portal for Research Integrity is now also available in English. "The core component of the online portal “Research Integrity” is the commentary on the so-called Level 3 of the Code of Conduct 'Guidelines for Safeguarding Good Research Practice'". (DFG)

The portal can be accessed via https://wissenschaftliche-integritaet.de/en. It offers a commented version of the Code of Conduct „Guidelines for Safeguarding Good Research Practice”. The main Code of Conduct is also availabe in PDF-form via https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.3923602.

DESY Library Videochat

The DESY Library introduces its new Zoom Chat Service. Contact us remotely and comfortably directly from your workplace! In One-on-One Sessions you can talk to one of our library staff and get information about using the library, our collection and services. Get also “hands” on experience with the library e-resources. With Zoom, librarians or patrons can “share” their computer screen with each other, which provides an opportunity to see what each other are seeing “live.”

Open Research Europe

The European Commission has now officially launched Open Research Europe, the open access publishing platform for scientific articles that present the results of research funded by Horizon 2020, and soon Horizon Europe.
